Tesla glass: windscreen, roof glass and rear screen — what is actually supplied
"Can you get the glass?" is one of the most common questions a European bodyshop asks about a Tesla, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a cheerful one. The answer has two halves. The bonded panels — windscreen, roof glass, rear screen — are large, fragile, awkward freight and are usually better sourced inside Europe. The parts that surround them and that every glass job consumes are a different matter: run channels, weatherstrips, belt seals, clips, mirror glass, regulators, wiper and washer items. Those are where GNSGO's China-sourced supply chain earns its keep, they are where the version mistakes happen, and they are the lines that most often get forgotten until the car is already stripped. This page separates the two, says plainly what our index does and does not hold, and leaves the bonded panel decision where it belongs.
1. What our index actually holds
GNSGO's Tesla index contains 29 references in the glass and wipers category. Reading them honestly: they are dominated by seals, run channels, regulators, mirror glass and wiper hardware, not by bonded glazing panels. For a windscreen or roof glass panel reference, send us the part number or a photograph of the label, and we will check what can be obtained against that VIN, rather than quote a number we could not stand behind.
What that means practically:
- For fixed glazing, assume you are buying in Europe unless a specific enquiry proves otherwise. Freight on a metre-plus glass panel from China is a cost and a breakage risk, and the landed price rarely beats local supply.
- For everything that goes with the glass, send us the enquiry. That is where our data is dense and where the version traps are.
- If a bonded panel reference is required against a specific VIN, ask. Availability is confirmed per quotation, and a reference absent from our index is not the same as one that cannot be found.
2. Fixed glass is bonded structure, not trim
A windscreen and a roof panel are bonded to the body and contribute to it. That has two consequences a buyer should internalise before quoting. First, the glass is only part of the purchase — the surrounding seals, mouldings and clips are separate references that are disturbed by the work and are rarely reusable. Second, a windscreen carries the forward camera on these cars, so its replacement is not a glass-only job: where a camera is mounted at the screen, replacement brings a camera calibration step with it, and that step belongs on the estimate as its own scope rather than appearing later as a correction.
We do not publish bonding materials, cure times, sectional procedures or any removal and fitting method. Those belong to the qualified workshop and to the material manufacturer's own instructions. What we can do is make sure the order contains every reference the job will need, because a missing run channel costs more in downtime than the part costs to buy.
3. The parts that come with a glass job
These are the references our records hold for Model 3 (2017–2023) and, where marked, Model Y.
| Reference | Recorded name | Application |
|---|---|---|
| 1090501-00-G | Seal — Front — Door — Glass Run — Left Hand | Model 3 (2017–2023) |
| 1090502-00-G | Seal — Front — Door — Glass Run — Right Hand | Model 3 (2017–2023) |
| 1500066-00-B | Glass Run Seal — Front Door — Left Hand | — |
| 1500067-00-B | Glass Run Seal — Front Door — Right Hand | — |
| 2085055-00-A | Glass Run Clipper | — |
| 1090499-00-L | Front Door Weatherstrip — Left Hand | Model 3 (2017–2023) |
| 1090500-00-L | Front Door Weatherstrip — Right Hand | Model 3 (2017–2023) |
| 1090510-00-L | Rear Door Weatherstrip — Left Hand | Model 3 (2017–2023) |
| 1497677-00-C | Header Seal — Left Hand | — |
| 1712608-C0-D | Inner Belt Seal — Rear Door — Left Hand | — |
Two patterns are worth pointing out. The glass run seal exists as an -00-G pair, an unlisted -00-I pair, and a 1500066 / 1500067 pair with two revisions each — 1500066-00-C and 1500067-00-B are both in our records. That is four or more recorded ways to name the same function, which is exactly why a description is not an order. Second, the clipper is one reference, 2085055-00-A, and it is the classic "nobody ordered it, everyone needs it" line.
Outer belt assemblies run the same way and come in black: 1080681-01-H and 1080684-01-H front left and right for Model 3 (2017–2023), 1080745-01-I and 1080748-01-I rear left and right, and a further recorded set in 1500063-00-D, 1495710-00-D, 1495720-00-D and 1495721-00-D. Secondary door seals repeat again in 1090493-00-D, 1090493-00-E, 1090508-00-E, 1090509-00-D and the 1500058 / 1500060 group — 1500058-00-B and 1500060-00-B.
For closures, the trunk and liftgate seals are separate: 1091069-00-D Seals — Trunk — Decklid for Model 3 (2017–2023), 1497681-00-C Liftgate Seal and 1728564-00-C Decklid Seal.
4. Mirror glass is glass, electronics and a regional version at once
The mirror is the one "glass" item in our index that is the strongest candidate for ordering from China, and it is also the one with the most ways to get it wrong.
| Reference | Recorded name |
|---|---|
| 1130653-00-A | Exterior Mirror Glass — Premium — Export — Left Hand |
| 1130654-00-A | Exterior Mirror Glass — Premium — Export — Right Hand |
| 1615880-00-A | Exterior Mirror Premium — Glass — Left Hand — Domestic |
| 1615883-00-A | Exterior Mirror Premium — Glass — Right Hand — Domestic |
| 1609853-02-A | Exterior Mirror Premium — Glass — Left Hand — Export |
| 1609854-02-A | Exterior Mirror Premium — Glass — Right Hand — Export |
Domestic and Export are not cosmetic labels — they are recorded as different references, and a European car sits on the Export side. Add the covers and the trim and the same mirror becomes a multi-line order: 1092290-00-D and 1092292-00-D Skull Cap Unpainted left and right for Model 3 (2017–2023), plus 1495593-00-A and 1963538-00-B recorded elsewhere in the range; mirror triangle trim in 1130655-00-E and 1130656-00-E for Model 3 (2017–2023) and 1495632-00-B and 1495633-00-B for Model Y (2020–2024).
The repeater camera lives in the same housing and is a lamp assembly, not a piece of glass: 1125106-77-E Lamp Assembly — Side Repeater Camera Left Hand for Model 3 (2017–2023), and 1495864-20-C and 1495865-20-C for the left and right of the same application.
5. Regulators, wipers and washers: same door, separate purchase
A door glass job rarely stops at the glass. The regulators are recorded individually and by side: 1096620-20-J Inteva Front Left Hand Window Regulator, 1096621-20-J Front Right Hand, 1096622-00-K Rear Left Hand and 1096623-00-K Rear Right Hand — all Model 3 (2017–2023). A second recorded family sits beside them: 1526800-00-E Window Regulator Mechanism — Front Door — Left Hand and 1526801-00-E Right Hand. Two families, four corners, and no universal part.
Wiper hardware is side- and drive-specific. 1076725-CN-G is recorded as a Left Hand Drive Wiper Module for Model 3 and carries a -CN- region code; the arms and blades are then separate — 1076728-00-D Wiper Arm Drive, 1076729-00-C Wiper Arm Passenger, 1076730-00-C Wiper Blade Driver, and further LHD-specific records in 1490247-00-A, 1490250-00-A and 1987302-00-A. Washer items follow the same split: 1607951-00-A Washer Reservoir Cap for Model 3 (2017–2023), 1739232-00-C Washer Fluid Reservoir Cap and 1739233-00-E Washer Bottle Assembly CN for Model 3 (2024–), and 1642614-00-A for earlier Model 3. Region-coded references are discussed further in China-built versus US-built Tesla parts.
6. Freight reality, stated plainly
Large glass is the hardest thing in a parts catalogue to move. It is heavy for its volume, it cannot be compressed or nested, and it breaks in a way that ends the shipment rather than denting it. Air freight prices it on chargeable weight and glass performs badly on that measure; sea freight is cheaper per unit but slow and needs serious packaging. Add the reality that a European glass distributor already holds the panel, and the honest advice is: buy the panel locally, buy the seals and hardware from us.
The same arithmetic applies, in a milder form, to fascias, fenders and quarter panels — see lead times and shipping for Tesla parts ordered from China.
7. What to send
The VIN, the side, and — if it is a mirror — whether the car is an Export-market vehicle. For a door, say front or rear and left or right. For a windscreen enquiry, tell us the car has a forward camera and expect the calibration question back. A photograph of any printed number on the old part closes most of the remaining doubt.
Short answers
Does GNSGO supply Tesla windscreens and roof glass?
Send us the VIN and we confirm, part number by part number, whether we can supply it. For large bonded glass, sourcing inside Europe is usually the better commercial decision because of freight and breakage.
What glass-related parts can I order from China?
Run channels, weatherstrips, header and belt seals, clippers, mirror glass and covers, regulators, wiper arms and blades, and washer components. Our records hold these in depth for Model 3 (2017–2023) and Model Y.
Are mirror glass references the same left and right?
No. 1130653-00-A and 1130654-00-A are the recorded Export left and right pair. Domestic and Export are separate recordings; a European car takes the Export side.
Is the repeater camera part of the mirror glass?
No. It is a separate lamp assembly — 1495864-20-C left, 1495865-20-C right.
Does a windscreen replacement need anything beyond the glass?
Yes. On a car with a forward camera, replacement brings a camera calibration scope with it, alongside the seals, mouldings and clips disturbed by the work.
Do I need the clipper?
Almost always, yes — 2085055-00-A. Order it with the run channel rather than discovering it mid-job.
Where this comes from.
The references quoted above are taken from GNSGO's own parts index for China-built and China-sourced Tesla parts — the same list at Tesla compatible parts — OE reference index. Availability and application are confirmed per enquiry against the OE number and, where it matters, the VIN. We have not drawn on Tesla's copyrighted workshop documentation for this page, and we do not reproduce any manual pages. Where our index does not hold a reference — fixed glazing panels among them — we say so rather than filling the gap with a plausible number. Bonding materials, cure times and fitting methods are not published here; those belong to the qualified workshop and to the material manufacturer.
