U006488 — Infotainment network bus off
Quick answer
U006488 indicates that the infotainment network reached a bus-off state, so the audio and centre-screen functions stop working.
What to check first
- Read all stored fault codes with a scan tool and deal with related codes first.
- Check whether other modules on the same network also report communication faults; one module offline can set codes in several others.
- Check the 12 V battery state of charge and terminals; a weak 12 V supply causes many electronic faults.
Symptoms you may notice
- Infotainment modules offline
- Centre screen or cluster faults
- U006488 stored in the gateway
- Repeated bus-off warnings
Can I still drive?
Usually drivable — have it checked soon. If in doubt, park the car and ask a technician — a fault that limits power or shuts the high-voltage system down will not clear by itself.
