Tesla guides · Part identification and version checks

Why Tesla factory parts are slow and expensive in Europe

Delivery times and prices for Tesla parts reflect the supply structure: a direct service model, limited independent wholesale routes, plant variants, assembly-only references, international freight and service-led stock allocation. A valid OE number still has to be checked against the vehicle and against the route that is actually open for it. GNSGO connects the China supply base with European workshops, buyers and fleets. Our 1,058-reference index supports identification, but every number, condition and availability is confirmed on the quotation. Send us the part number or a photo of the label, and we will check whether we can source it. Typical dispatch time is confirmed on the quotation; transit depends on the shipping method you choose. The practical goal is a confirmed part that fits the vehicle and can actually ship, not the lowest-looking number.

1. The channel is narrower than a conventional dealer network

Established brands often distribute parts through national warehouses, dealer groups and motor factors simultaneously. Tesla's model is more direct: factory parts supply is closely connected to its service and body-repair channels, with fewer broad independent wholesale routes.

A correct reference may therefore have no nearby franchised counter serving routine trade demand. Pricing is less exposed to competing trade offers, while access can depend on local policy, stock allocation and whether the item is sold separately. This is why another dealer call does not always solve the delay.

2. Service scheduling and parts availability become linked

Where parts are routed mainly through direct service, appointment and supply can share one workflow. A long European booking cycle can affect when a part is identified, allocated or released through that channel.

Independent workshops may already have the vehicle and need the reference before committing bay time. Their problem is obtaining a saleable part outside the manufacturer's normal sequence. China sourcing can separate the enquiry from that queue, but the VIN, label and complete reference still come first.

3. Some items are supplied only as a larger assembly

The visible damaged piece is not always the unit sold under an OE reference. A small bracket, cover or internal element may be packaged only with a larger service assembly. Conversely, a base-number family may contain both an assembly and a separately identified bracket. The buyer must know which supplied form the quotation covers.

This affects cost in two ways. First, the saleable unit may contain more content than the workshop expected from the everyday part name. Second, a large assembly costs more to pack and ship even when only one area is damaged. Body panels and bumper structures add volumetric freight; lamps and finished components need protective packing; controlled or sensitive items may have fewer transport options.

GNSGO does not promise to break an assembly into a component that has no defensible saleable reference. Send us the part number or a photo of the label, and we will check whether we can source it; the quotation states which supplied form is being offered.

4. Version control adds time before stock is even checked

A request for “Model Y headlamp” or “Model 3 front damper” is not ready for purchasing. Model year, plant, market specification, side, revision and supplied scope can change the OE number. The time spent confirming these details is not administrative waste; it prevents the wrong part from crossing a continent.

For example, 1514952-00-D is recorded as a left-hand global headlamp assembly for Model 3 (2017–2023) and Model Y. 1125106-50-J is a left-hand side-repeater camera lamp for Model 3 and Model Y. Both are lighting-related and both are left-hand items, but neither broad description establishes fit for every build.

The same discipline applies to 1073677-SC-A, a left-hand rear quarter-panel assembly recorded for Model 3 (2017–2023), and 1506859-00-D, an octovalve assembly recorded for Model 3 and Model Y. Category, model and appearance do not replace the complete reference and VIN.

5. What GNSGO's 1,058-reference index covers

The index is weighted toward the categories European workshops most often need after damage or wear. It is not a complete Tesla catalogue.

Category in our index References Share of practical coverage
Body and collision 651 Panels, brackets, bumper items, liners, closures and related hardware
Suspension and steering 128 Arms, links, hubs, dampers, knuckles and subframes
Lighting 82 Headlamps, tail lamps, reflex lamps, brackets and related units
Electrical and sensors 47 Sensors, modules, switches and camera-lamp references
Thermal and HVAC 32 Radiators, hoses, pumps, compressors and HVAC parts
Glass and wipers 29 Regulators, seals, wiper and washer items
Interior trim 23 Trim panels, clips and interior hardware
Powertrain and drive 20 Mounts, seals, bushes and drive-related references
Wheels and tyres 19 Covers, caps, liners and TPMS-related references
Braking 17 Rotors, hoses, calipers and service pad kits
Battery and high voltage — Outside the scope of this page
Charging and adapters 5 A limited set of covers, doors and adapter-related references

The largest group is body and collision because China has deep manufacturing and export capability in stamped, moulded and assembled vehicle components. The index also gives meaningful coverage in suspension and lighting. A category count must never be read as a promise that a particular reference, revision or condition is available. Restraint-system and high-voltage parts are outside the scope of this page.

6. Factory-new, remanufactured and Core are different offers

A clean quotation should identify the supply condition. “OE reference” describes the identity; it does not, by itself, tell the buyer whether the offered stock is factory-new, remanufactured, aftermarket or a returnable core route.

We confirm, part number by part number, whether we can supply it. Examples in the OE index include 8008240-00-C, a front base-caliper service brake-pad kit for Model 3 and Model Y, and 1451453-00-B, a left-hand charging-port cover assembly for Model 3 and Model Y. Their presence in the index is not a current supply confirmation; the quotation names the offered condition.

Core records are explicit. 1044090-00-A is the standard front-left damper assembly record, while 1044090-00-AX is named as a front-left shock-absorber Core. On the right, 1044095-00-A is the standard assembly record and 1044095-00-AX is the Core record. The rear family also contains 1044461-01-E and an explicit Core reference, 1044461-01-EX.

A Core option points to a remanufactured supply route, and it brings commercial conditions. Return eligibility, deposit, old-unit condition and transport are confirmed per quotation. We do not treat an AX or EX reference as ordinary new stock. Remanufactured units can be quoted on request by part number; availability is confirmed order by order.

7. Where China-sourced supply adds value

Shanghai production created a large local supplier base around Model 3 and Model Y. That ecosystem is where factory-new parts, service items and remanufacturing routes originate — routes that are difficult to reach through a European independent channel. We confirm, part number by part number, whether we can supply it; our role is to identify the exact reference, state the offered condition and consolidate export logistics where practical.

This route is particularly useful for body-collision parts, suspension components, lamps and regional references found on Shanghai-built vehicles. It also makes a Core route worth asking about where a new assembly is limited or commercially inefficient. Remanufactured units can be quoted on request by part number; availability is confirmed order by order.

China sourcing is not a magic bypass. A part can be restricted, discontinued, allocated, assembly-only, unsuitable for the VIN or uneconomic to ship as a single unit. Some references have no confirmed source. Some items available in China serve a Chinese or Shanghai-built configuration and cannot be assumed to fit a US- or Berlin-built car.

8. Why availability has to be checked part number by part number

Publishing 1,058 references improves identification, but availability changes. Stock can be consumed, a supplier can stop releasing an item, a revision can replace an earlier number, or international freight can make an enquiry impractical. The correct response is a confirmed offer, a defensible alternate route, or a clear statement that the reference still needs checking. Send us the part number or a photo of the label, and we will check whether we can source it.

For the fastest answer, send the VIN, complete old reference, label photograph, side, required supplied form and desired condition. GNSGO then checks application and availability separately. We do not advertise every indexed item as factory-new stock, and we do not substitute a nearby number to save the enquiry.

Not every reference has a confirmed route. Availability is confirmed order by order. That limitation is not fine print; it is the basis of a reliable parts conversation.

Short answers

Why can a Tesla factory part take longer than a conventional-brand part?

The independent wholesale channel is narrower, supply is closely linked to direct service routes, and version confirmation may be needed before stock can be allocated.

Does a published OE page confirm current availability?

No. It means GNSGO has an identity record. Current source, condition, price, application and dispatch time are confirmed on the quotation; transit depends on the shipping method you choose.

Are all China-sourced parts aftermarket?

No. China sourcing can include factory-new, remanufactured and aftermarket supply. The quotation must state which condition and source are being offered.

Does every one of the 1,058 indexed references have a supply route?

No. The index defines known coverage, not guaranteed inventory. Send us the part number or a photo of the label, and we will check whether we can source it; some references are restricted, superseded or uneconomic to export.

What is a Core option?

It is a return- or remanufacturing-linked supply record, such as the AX and EX examples above. Deposit, return condition and application are confirmed with the quote. Remanufactured units can be quoted on request by part number; availability is confirmed order by order.

What should a European workshop send first?

Send the VIN, complete old OE number, clear label image, required side and required condition. That allows application and availability to be checked without guessing.

Where this comes from.

The references and category counts quoted above are taken from GNSGO's own parts index for China-built and China-sourced Tesla parts — the same list at Tesla compatible parts — OE reference index. Availability, offered condition, Core terms and application are confirmed on the quotation against the OE number and VIN. We have not drawn on Tesla's copyrighted workshop documentation for this page, and we do not reproduce any manual pages. Where GNSGO does not have a confirmed source or condition, we say so rather than presenting index coverage as inventory.
