Xpeng’s flagship SUV, the G9L, makes its global launch at the Paris Motor Show on October 12. It will be built in two places: Guangzhou and Magna Steyr’s plant in Graz, Austria.
Since September 2025, Xpeng has assembled the G6 and G9 at Magna Steyr in Graz. The P7+ joined the line earlier this year. The G9L is the fourth model. All four are built in the same Graz plant that also produces the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
When a vehicle is produced in Europe, the parts supply chain starts to localise. Body panels, interior components, underbody protection — the Tier-1 suppliers that feed Magna’s line are European. The logistics route from factory to dealer is European. The homologation and certification trail is European.
The battery cells, the electric drive units, the AI chips — those still originate from China. But the collision parts, the trim components, the serviceable wear items: those start moving closer.
If Xpeng’s European volume keeps growing — do you see the Graz production line as a sourcing opportunity for your business?
