Lotus Technology Completed 100% Acquisition of Lotus UK

On August 25, Lotus Technology announced it had completed the acquisition of 100% of Lotus UK — the Hethel sports car operation and its engineering consultancy arm, Lotus Engineering. Most coverage is treating this as a brand story: Geely finally owns Lotus outright.

From where I sit, the more important change is structural. And it’s hidden in the ownership chain. Before: Geely Holding 51%, Etika 49% — a joint venture with veto rights. Geely had direction, but not full control.

External projects, like Lotus Engineering’s chassis tuning for the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, had to move through a structure with friction built in. After: a clean three-level chain — Geely Holding
