Geely Just Raised Its Export Target to 920,000
Li Shufu stepped down as Chairman of Geely Auto’s listed company on August 18. The Chinese media called it a milestone — founder to professional management, the end of an era.
What matters is buried in the same announcement: Geely raised its 2026 export target from 640,000 to 920,000 units — and said the long-term goal is for two-thirds of sales to come from outside China.
The anchor number: 474,000 units exported in H1 2026, up 158% year-on-year.(Source: Geely Auto H1 2026 interim results, August 17, 2026)1. The export growth is real — and it’s not just BEV. Geely exported 474,000 units in the first half. New energy exports grew 585% to 277,000 units.
The rest — nearly 200,000 units — were combustion and hybrid models, including the China Star series with the new i-HEV system. For European aftermarket operators, this matters because the parts mix coming to Europe will be more complex, not less. 2. The Europe number is aggressive.
Geely’s stated plan: a 600,000-unit annual sales region in Europe. The Ford Spain plant in Valencia — 500,000-unit capacity — will produce Geely products from 2027. The Volvo plant path covers premium models. The Korea and Brazil projects add more regional capacity.3. The aftermarket signal from the financials.
Geely cut supplier payment terms to under 60 days, and under 30 days for small and mid-sized suppliers. Management said they plan to move to cash settlement in the future.4. What the leadership change actually means for Europe.
Li Shufu stepped down from the listed company’s board, but he remains Chairman of Geely Holding Group. The ownership and ultimate strategic control have not changed. What changed is the operating layer — An Conghui now runs the listed company, Gan Jiayue runs daily operations.
Both are career Geely people, promoted from within. If you run a parts distribution business or a multi-brand workshop network in Europe — have you mapped which Geely brands will hit your region first?
