China's Auto Export Boom - Mid 2026 Overseas Market Insight

The China Share Numbers You Should Be Reading That’s the Chinese independent brands’ share of Europe’s new energy vehicle market in January–July 2026 — up from 2.2% in 2021. Overall share across all powertrains: 11.7%. Overall share is growing. NEV share is growing faster.

In some markets, much faster.- Italy NEV: 40.8%. Four out of ten electrified cars sold in Italy now carry a Chinese badge.- UK NEV: 26.2%. One in four.- Germany NEV: 9.3%.

Still single digit — the one big market that hasn’t opened up the same way.- Norway NEV: 13.6% — actually down slightly from the 14.0% full-year 2025 figure. The pattern is not uniform. It’s a patchwork of adoption speeds, regulatory environments, and local competitive structures. What this means for the aftermarket

The mix is shifting faster than the totals suggest. In most markets, the NEV share is higher than the all-vehicle share. That means the Chinese vehicles entering European workshops are increasingly electrified. A Chinese EV needs a different service chain than a Chinese combustion car. Battery diagnostics.

High-voltage system repair. BMS data access. Thermal management. Power electronics. The parts list is not the same list. Market share is a sales metric. Service coverage is a survival metric. The data shows Chinese brands are winning the sales argument.

The question the European aftermarket should be asking is different: when 40% of new electrified cars in Italy are Chinese, who is building the service infrastructure for them? Because sales share today becomes service demand in three to five years.

And the gap between those two lines — sales and service — is where the aftermarket opportunity sits. Look at your region. If the NEV share of Chinese brands in your market is 20% or higher, the service volume is coming.

Are you already building the diagnostic capability, the parts sourcing paths, and the technician training for Chinese EV architectures? They’re a map. The markets with the steepest NEV share curves — Italy, the UK — are the ones where the aftermarket infrastructure race is already underway.
