Changan just released May delivery data:

  • Total: 209,100 units
  • Overseas: 70,700 units — up 38% year-on-year
  • NEV: 92,400 units

A note on the measure: these are Changan’s delivery figures. Changan’s own production-and-sales filing to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (000625) reported 180,100 units for May, down 19.71% year on year. Deliveries and wholesale sales are counted differently — which is exactly why we name the measure instead of just writing “sales”.

Changan now operates 22 overseas manufacturing bases with 350,000 units annual capacity, covering 118 countries through 1,124 sales outlets. Changan runs a multi-brand overseas playbook that most Chinese OEMs haven’t replicated:

  • Deepal: 33,243 units in May, up 30% YoY. Overseas cumulative 28,704 units Jan-May, up 167%.
  • Changan Qiyuan: 34,528 units. The Q05 landed in Thailand — 3,000 orders in 3 days.
  • Avatr: 7,336 units, a 2026 high. Now in 40+ countries, overseas already profitable. Europe entry this year.
  • Changan Gravitation: 48,900 units — the ICE and hybrid volume backbone.
  • Changan Kaicheng: 21,100 units — commercial vehicles, KD assembly in Uzbekistan and Mexico.

Five brands. Different segments. Different price points. ICE, hybrid, BEV. All pushing overseas simultaneously. Changan doesn’t enter with one model. It enters with a brand family, a local manufacturing commitment, and a long-term localization plan. That is its “ocean embraces a hundred rivers” strategy.
